I have to admit, all the buzz around this movie the last couple month – I have just not been on the wagon.  I didn’t even look twice at anything about it.  Until I watched this.  It looks… amazing.

If you’re anything like me, you have a fridge full of Dr Pepper, pretzel M&Ms on your desk next to a copy of the original, untampered with Star Wars on DVD ripped from a Japanese laser disc ready to put it while you work all as you write up on your blog/podcast site.  If you’re only similar to me, you play this little game while watching movies, and let’s admit, at this point it’s completely subliminal (I don’t even realize I do it anymore).  During the movie, if they say the name of the movie in the movie you yell out “ding!”  While at home, this is fun and exciting to see where and when you can find the title.  In the theater people tend to look at your with rude, squished up faces that makes me want to stab them with a wine bottle cork screw.

Regardless, it’s fun to play, alone or with friends, much like drinking.  So needless to say, while watching the above SuperCut, I had the inclination to yell out “ding” after each title was uttered… my tongue now hurts.

Suffice to say, again, this act of saying the movie’s title in the movie is a pretty shitty thing to do.  It’s like the makers of the film couldn’t possibly come up with a name that was even remotely suitable for the film that wasn’t in the fucking dialogue of the god damn movie.  It’s a cheap thing to do.  This is why we play the Ding Game, similar to why I honk my horn in my truck and shoot the bird at people who turn with out a turn signal – perhaps they don’t know that they are assholes, perhaps I am doing them a service by letting them know.  You’re welcome, asshole.

Remember when Nike announced the Back To The Future self lacing shoes?  Remember how excited everyone was, myself included.  Remember how pissed off everyone was after the news that came out that Nike was just making the shoes LOOK like the shoes from BTTF?  And I started a total boycott of Nike and said Fuck Em?  I do. I was hurt.

Mattel just announced that they will be jumping on the wagon of bands and wanting to cash in on the BTTF fandom by releasing a replica of the BTTF2 hoverboard.  Here is their press release….

Back to the Future Hover Board: Finally! This totally awesome 1:1 replica of the hover board from the BTTF 2 and BTTF 3 films includes multiple whooshing sounds and will glide over most surfaces (does not actually “hover” – check back in 2015 for that feature). We’ll be taking orders for it March 1 – March 20, 2012, and the final product will be shipped around November/December 2012. Because this is such a high-cost item, there will be a minimum number of orders required to go into production. If we don’t receive the minimum orders, won’t go into production and customers will not be charged. The price will be announced later this month. (Note: Hover board does not work on water.)

Why make a replica of this and make a big deal out of it?  Granted people love movie replicas.  I grock that.  But why not just fucking wait a couple years til this technology below is possible…

So, yeah, there’s that… which is FUCKING AWESOME!!!!  My balls got excited, jumped out of my sack, booked tockets to Rio, went to a rave, came back drunk and refused to tell me about it.  Wouldn’t it be freaking awesome to have a real hoverboard with this technology???  Wouldn’t it???  No worries, we are getting this….

Yeah the movie looks… well, dead :/ but with every movie my friends are in, I have to see it, buy it, and love it in some form or another.  Consider me excited about Detention of the Dead because Shawn-Obi is a zombie in it getting his ass handed to him by a goth chick.
