I REMEMBER ALL OF THIS.
Wallpapers, icons, shell commands. Everything. And that makes me feel about as old as DOS now looks.
But that’s a small price to pay I suppose to remember vividly the shear awe that the upgrade from Windows 3.1 to Windows 95 instilled in my young mind.
That’s something spoiled younger generations of today just will never understand.

Oh jees, man. I remember rocking the Commodore 64, all green screen. And the upgrade to a DOS IBM and playing games on it you had to type in command codes like :C>olypmics1985/play.exe
Then it would load. Oh fuck… I remember having my first GUI based system, I almost shit binary.
HAHAHA! Username: Twatface
One of my earliest memories of being the sarcastic, negative asshole that I proclaim myself to be today was the commercials for Windows 98, when it was released in December 1998.
God I really wanna make a command line joke here…
But all I can think of is that text based RPG from BIG. I think that was called Colossal Cave Adventure.
I remember loading games on floppy’s. And if something went wrong, which it always did, on the 7th disc…you were fucked. Had to start all over and loose another couple of hours.
The most fucked up thing about that though? I MISS THAT. haha
Dude I would wait in AGONY as I installed discs. Remember the ridiculous boxes that came with old PC games? Shit was bigger than a dictionary for 7 discs!
And also, does anyone know ANYONE who had a full version of Doom? I swear to christ everyone I ever met said they did but they all only had the long ass demo.
“And also, does anyone know ANYONE who had a full version of Doom? I swear to christ everyone I ever met said they did but they all only had the long ass demo.”
I had it buddy. Ohhh I had it.
I don’t believe it. You probably had the demo like everyone else. I wanna see the disks! Show me that cold, hard, floppy my friend. And by floppy I mean the disks…
Long story short I formatted my Doom demo disks and recycled them for powerpoint presentations in high school…Doom sticker still attached.
