Locke and Key TV Series Picked Up

If you aren’t aware of the amazing comic series Locke and Key, I won’t blame you or even douse you in gasoline and make you light your own match.  It’s not a hugely popular book like The Walking Dead or Y: The Last Man or The Boys.  All in all though, Locke and Key is on that level and deserves the respect the others got.  And if you hadn’t heard of Walking, Y, or Boys, go grab your fire-sticks and start rubbing, I’ll be there in a second with the splishy-splashy.

Here is the official synapsos of the series:

Locke & Key tells of Keyhouse, an unlikely New England mansion, with fantastic doors that transform all who dare to walk through them…. and home to a hate-filled and relentless creature that will not rest until it forces open the most terrible door of them all…! Acclaimed suspense novelist and New York Times best-selling author Joe Hill (Heart-Shaped Box) creates an all-new story of dark fantasy and wonder, with astounding artwork from Gabriel Rodriguez. Hill has received the Bram Stoker Award for Best Fiction Collection, the British Fantasy Award for Best Collection and Best Short Story, and the Sydney J. Bounds Best Newcomer Award-2007, among his growing collection of critical accolades.
So, not only has the comic book been green lit to be made into a TV series but Fox has handed in a series commitment to the Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci- produced small screen adaptation of the graphic novel, Locke & Key by Stephen King’s son, Joe Hill.  Apparently, Steven Spielberg wil;l also be involved with the project (Dreamworkds)  and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicals -Josh Friedman will be the showrunner on the series.

Here is the video / comic book trailer: (just a pre-note, it doesn’t do the book justice at all)

I highly recommend picking up the comic.  Right now, it is in it’s 4th series and I couldn’t love them more.  It just keeps getting better and better.  Normally I don’t like doing the leg work for people but this is a series I need to stress how great it really is… so, here:

    Book 1: Welcome to Lovecraft

    Book 2: Head Games

    Book 3: Crown of Shadows
