Hunter Prey

hunter_prey_poster2

Have you been looking at the newly released San Diego Comic Con schedule and been overwhelmed with how much there is to do?  I’m not even going and I still can’t decide what I would want to see more on some of these days.  There is however one thing that I think everyone should take the time out to go and see while they are geeking out at the con.

Sandwiched in between the insane amount of booths, celebs, and new movie announcement is something that doesn’t get as much coverage as it should, the international film festival.  This is where a lot of indie directors, and big think tank projects get pitched and premiered.  One film that premiered at this festival, and consequently took the world by storm, was a film called “Batman: Dead End”.

I’m sure just about everyone who has seen this film just uttered an “Aw shit yeah Batman: Dead End!”  They aren’t wrong for saying that either.  It was the premiere of director Sandy Collora.

Sandy got his start at the Stan Winston studio in 1988, and his work can be seen in Men in Black, The Crow, Dogma, Predator 2, and he designed the logo for Jurassic Park.

Yeah, that’s right, the fucking JP logo!

Hunter Prey is his latest film, and I have to say it looks just as cool as it sounds.

“Hunter Prey” is about a group of intergalactic commandos who crash land on a barren and unknown planet while transporting an alien prisoner who escapes and goes on the run. The commandos report in to their home base to seek assistance but are told they must track down and recapture their Alien prisoner at all costs…ALIVE. The surviving commandos play a dangerous game of cat and mouse with their former prisoner who is smart and not easily outwitted – but who is the hunter and who is the prey?

So any of you going to the con take the time to go support Sandy Corolla and make this film as popular as Batman: Dead End!  If you swing over to the Hunter Prey website you can check out more stills, get some sweet downloads, and check out the recent great press on the film.  It releases July 27th, and you can now order through Amazon.

Look below for some great stills from the film and the trailer!

Walking Dead Updates

the-walking-dead

Good news and better news to report for you this week!

First up, I know that a lot of people have been concerned with who will be running with the series after Frank Darabont takes his leave after the pilot.  Well, Arrowinthehead is reporting that another AMC-er is up for bid.  Michelle MacLaren, long time producer of the X-Files and sometimes director of Breaking Bad, is said to be helming the second episode that is scheduled to shoot this week!

Now, this is still a bit of a rumor at the moment, so take it with a grain of salt, but know that AMC has the right idea.  Keep it in house, and keep it in camera!

The second bit of news is even more exciting.  If you aren’t familiar with the book (and you need to be before you watch this) then I need to say *SPOILER ALERT*.  For those who are up to speed and have started rereading all the issues then this will wow you big time.

Some new set photos have been released by On Location Vacations.  A few questions might pop into your head as you look at these.  Questions like “why are these people covered in blood?”

If you will recall there is a scene where Rick Grimes and Glenn are trying to get inside the heart of Atlanta, but the city is swarming with the undead.  Rick notices that the zombies never seem to attack one another and realized that its because they stink, bad.  So Rick and Glenn douse themselves in blood and quietly shuffle through the horde of zombies.

Some New Posters

scott pilgrim

Some new posters were released this week for upcoming films that look awesome.

The first is the new Scott Pilgrim vs The World.

A lot of people claim that this isn’t as good as the 1st poster to release, and I agree.  That artistic rendition of Michael Cera shredding an electric guitar was really badass.  I like this one as well, very much sticks to the art style of the comic, and a style I know that Edgar Wright really tried to stay true to for this film.

The Second is Piranha 3-d:

This is actually the international trailer for Piranha 3d, but you know what I’m sure 90% of you are laughing to yourself saying, “Who would really go see that?”.

I totally would!  I think that this new one with be super cheesy, but at the same time I think it might be a really cool addition to the whole “sea creature” genre.  I won’t put it at Jaws status, but it could be a great summer flick!

New Scream 4 Set Pics

scream1

Beforethetrailer.com posted up these set pics from the new Scream film.

These pics are seriously nothing to brag about…and I’m kind of getting the feeling that the film is going to be the same.  Let’s face it, does ANYONE really remember Scream 3?  I mean I remember predicting every single death before it happened in that movie…THAT’S BAD!

Also, gathering from these photos it looks like Wes and the gang are going back and trying to pull the Scream wool over our eyes.  Syndey Prescott has released a book…remember when Gayle did that in the first one, and EVERYONE read it.  Dun-dun-snore.

I’m not excited for this one, are you?

Surfap’s “Super Mario Bros.” Wall

mariowall

Now this is taking wall art to a whole new level. Check out this really cool Super Mario Bros. inspired video from Vimeo user Surfap. Some really nice vfx and compositing!

At some point some time ago the kingdom of the peaceful mushroom people was invaded by the Kupa, a turtle people, which is notorious for its black magic. The cozy, peace-loving Mushroom People were lapsed into stones, bricks, weeds and even transformed, and their kingdom. The only one who make the magic to reverse and return the mushroom people their figures could be Princess Toadstool, the daughter of the king mushroom people. But you is unfortunately in the hands of the mighty Kupaschildkröten-king. Mario, (perhaps) the hero of the story, hear of the plight of the mushroom people and sets off to rescue the princess from the evil hands of the Kupa and redeem the decaying fungus human kingdom. You can be Mario! Now it is up to you to liberate the people from the black magic mushroom!

A new video posted by YouTuber HHNFreak8, shows a bunch of stills taken by Voorhees from Horrornightsnightmares.com. And it finally puts to rest the long debated question of if there will be houses featuring rope ladders and a rape van. The answer…YES! *sigh*

Google Map Fail

So, this happened to me this morning as I was doing a Google Map to my final destination for my July 4th plans.  Apparently we need to have an option to factor in make/model of car, because contrary to popular belief, Honda Civics are not boats.

Behold. Space Cat!!!

Behold. Space Cat! Clumsily going where, I’m pretty sure, no cats have gone before!

And he’s REALLY pissed about it.

Back in the 80′s, some NASA people brought a cat onboard the NASA “vomit comet” for a scientific experiment to see how it would handle floating in zero-gravity (cats alway land on their feet, right?) The cat was neither amused nor happy with the experience. However, the kitty was not harmed or injured in any way.

No More Sad Keanu’s…And That Makes Me Sad

sadkeanunomore

That’s right folks. No more Sad Keanu’s. ABC News reported today that Splash News, the original owner of our beloved meme, has invoked the Digital Millennium Copyright Act and prevents anyone from making anymore “Sad Keanu’s”. Unless you want to get your ass sued that is.

Just give that a moment to sink in…and also to ponder how rediculous it is that ABC News wrote a story about Sad Keanu’s AND Selleck Waterfalls in the first place.

But there is some good news to this whole story. Keanu Reeve’s people were asked to comment on this now defunct internet phenom and here’s what he had to say.

Keanu Reeves would like to thank all of his fans for their concerns regarding his happiness and wants to assure everyone that all is well. This situation is a result of a misinterpretation of a paparazzi shot.

So though we won’t have any new Sad Keanu’s, at least we can rest assured that Keanu is ok. Keanu…is ok. Phew.
