Man it’s been a while, but we’re back! And this week One-Sheet and Doc Oz talk about their theory for series six of Doctor Who (Spoilers!…maybe), Doc Oz forgets how to use his microphone properly, One-Sheet recounts his night out at a Goth club, the geeks watch the new X-Men: First Class trailer which One-Sheet had never seen before…lame, and we talk about some other stuff that I can’t quite remember as of typing this long run on sentence disguised as a paragraph that I do for every episode of our little podcast.

Hosts: Doc Oz One-Sheet (@andrewmarcec)

One-Sheet’s Drunken Adventure In A Goth Club

I imagined it would be like Buffy, where we would enter The Bronze and Dingo Ate My Baby would be playing while we waited for the vamps to jump out, our stakes at the ready.

Alright it’s that time again…that’s it for this week! But tune in next Friday for another brand new episode of My Remote Radio. I promise. Fo seriously. And I won’t sound like shit. Double promise.

And remember, the show is nothing without the comments from great readers and listeners like you! Which is actually quite amazing that this show even exists then since we never get any emails from you people. I think that’s what physicists call a causality loop. But I could be wrong. How about one of your brainiacs write in and tell me if I am or not!

We both know you won’t, and so the loop continues. But if you DO have something to add  just email us at contact@myremoteradio.com! Or use the old comments section of this episode’s show notes. Anything goes people. We just want to hear from you!

The main reason I’m looking forward to X-Men: First Class is that it’ll be an X-film that doesn’t focus on Wolverine. I’ve never been a fan of the whole ‘the Wolverine show… guest staring the X-Men’ trend you see in the Marvel universe.

  2. Awesome point Toilet!

I’m so tired of Wolverine as well. He’s might have been cool in the 90s…but now it’s just out of control.

Please I beg you reconsider you Halloween beer! Melted candy corn as a priming sugar will ruin your batch of beer. They use a carnauba wax in making that stuff that will just solidify as the beer gets cold. You’d be better of going with a pumpkin spice pack. Also what style of beer were you planning on doing this to?

    • I feel like I dogged a bullet there Scott, thanks for the heads up on the candy corn wax! But are you sure that the wax would still transfer after distilling a pack down to just it’s base sugars and flavoring? I would have thought it would get baked out during the soft boil.

I’m planning on making a Wheat beer. The pumpkin spice pack is a good idea too, though I personally really hate spices in my beer, and I’d like to use something other than pumpkin since that just seemed obvious for a Halloween beer. Do you have something you’d recommend in it’s place?

If it’s turns out well, I’ll send you all up a few bottles as a thanks for your help!

If you want to try the candy corn, which I do think is a totally badass idea! I would only try a six pack so you don’t ruin a whole 5 gallon batch. I have heard of people trying to use different types of sugars in their beers with poor results. Maybe with a little research you could find a way to remove the wax.

A wheat beer in the fall huh? Have you ever tried a Dunkelweiss? Its a darker German style wheat beer. I usually has some banana and clove ester, I think it would be awesome to add a little black and green pepper corns and cloves.

    Either way, happy brewing!

    • Well my next beer is going to be a Porter and I’m going to experiment with using Honey instead of the traditional priming sugar. It’s going to take a couple weeks longer to fully carbonate but I think it’ll leave a nice hint of Honey and not ferment completely out. So if that works…I’m more confident at least that candy corn might as well. I’ll let you all know on the show either way though!

And I’ve never tried Dunkelweiss actually! I’m gonna have to hunt that down. I really love the idea of adding those cloves and pepper corns to the steep too. That would be VERY interesting to see how that comes through in the final brew.

Are you brewing anything right now Scott?

I have a german marzen fermenting on lager yeast, and an american style wheat beer both finishing up in the next few days. The octoberfest beer is for my brothers octoberfest party he has every year. Only this year it will be a battle of the beers. Hey brewed a hybrid octoberfest using a kolsch yeast. Where I went the traditional route with lager. I thik next year we will open it up to our other friends that brew as well. Next up for me will be a double IPA and a berlinerweiss. I have a very long list of to do brews I’d like to do this summer. I’m also about to rack my hard cider to a keg to carb it up. As for the honey porter, be careful with it since you have no idea on the sugar content. If it over carbs it you could have some bottle bombs on your hands, or flat beer. The only down fall to honey is its unpredicability and it takes a lot longer to carb. I would try and ounce or two of honey and three to four ounces of regular priming sugar. The yeast will eat the simple sugars first and leave the more dense honey behind. Happy brewing Cheers!
